Like Father, Like Son
Son of Prominent HHI Land Planner Wins Award

FEB. 27, 2002, Bluffton, SC – The old adage “The fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree” applies to land planners as well as to fathers and sons. In the case of Josh Tiller, son of prominent Lowcountry land planner James K. Tiller of J.K. Tiller Associates, Inc., it applies to both.

Josh, a Teaching Assistant at the University of Georgia’s School of Environmental Design, is to be presented the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award during the University’s Honors Day program Wednesday, April 10, 2002. The ceremony will be held at the North Campus of the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, where Josh is currently completing his Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture after having received a Bachelors Degree in Architecture from Clemson University.

Like his father, Josh has sought the highest levels of academic training and personal excellence. The University of Georgia enjoys the largest full-time landscape architectural faculty in the United States. This outstanding faculty includes five Fellows of the ASLA, three recipients of ASLA's Bradford Williams Medal and nine recipients of teaching awards from the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture, three of which earned the Outstanding Educator Award (North America's highest award for career contributions to teaching and research).

Josh’s father, James K. Tiller – recently named one of Hilton Head Monthly Magazine’s “2002 Most Intriguing Islanders” – is a former professor of Landscape Architecture at Ohio State University’s prestigious School of Architecture. He conducted post-graduate work at Harvard University, and secured his Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Georgia’s School of Environmental Design.
